gettin’ back to animatin’

you might be looking at one of the main characters of a short i’m working on.

whaddya think tumblr?

edit: also this was made in flash

working on some character turn-arounds for these feisty ladies and this is a preview of what i have so far. you may have seen them here. i’m trying to figure out a style that would work for well for animating since i’m cooking up a plot for these gals.

so i don’t think i ever posted this here, but this was made over a year ago for my 2nd time applying for calarts. i figured i should know what it takes to make a fully animated short that included dialogue and original music. it’s pretty rough, but it serves as a starting point in (what i hope to be) many more films to come. perhaps you’ll see this little girl again.

Part 2 of my storyboard from my accepted portfolio to CalArts. Part one is here and Part 3 is here.

redid my tumblr layout with this sassy mermaid (i’m starting to think i have a thing for half shaven hairstyles). but i also made it available as a sassy print too.

when i was small one of my first and biggest influences was Disney’s The Little Mermaid. I became fascinated by the folklore in general, reading books and learning that the story of the mermaid was actually much darker. it was also the main reason why I grew out my hair to a redic length and i’d play out the scene where Ariel sings on the rock when i’d take a bath.

but anyway.

I’ve been cooking up some stories to go along with these wicked little girls so you might just see ‘em around.

animating in photoshop—i can dig it

This always gets me when I see him on The Voice and he’s doing his black Dr. Evil thing. He’s pretty much a cartoon on his own so I basically just had the nerve to do the work

has anyone else animated in photoshop?
